ABSTRACT

The emergence of a new human coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, constitutes a global health problem that causes serious respiratory tract infections and at the same time a highly contagious person-to-person disease. The humanized care that must be provided to these patients is an ethical responsibility associated with the duty of nurses;and therefore, the objective of this study is to know the perception of care and in turn to explore the experiences and emotions of nursing health personnel when treating patients with Covid-19, emphasizing respect, kindness, love, compassion and dignity, maintain the confidentiality of the same. According to the time period, it is a cross-sectional investigation since the data were collected in a single moment by 25 nurses from the IESS of Latacunga, who present their perception of the care and treatment of the infected patient. The results denote a lack of training, biosafety elements, emotional containment strategies, among others, that hinder the work of the nurse. In conclusion, the relationship that can be developed between nurse and patient will help to reduce the risk of future sequelae, since with the correct care, the process of sanitation in the patient and the capacity of others can be accelerated. In addition, there is a need to maintain the training of nursing personnel.

ABSTRACT

The objective of the study was to describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean. An observational, descriptive, retrospective, retrospective and cross-sectional research was deployed. The study relied primarily on the Covid19Tourism Index to analyze the depression of tourism activity in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on the degree of recovery with respect to the "normal time" without COVID-19. The results showed that the least affected countries were Mexico and the Dominican Republic, while Argentina and Peru were the most affected in relation to the overall drop-in tourism activity. Peru, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Mexico were the most affected in terms of the number of COVID-19 deaths per million inhabitants. The loss of passenger revenues in Latin American and Caribbean countries between January and September 2020, amounting to 21 billion USD, was evidenced, forecasting a reduction in international passenger traffic capacity of between 60% and 63% by the year 2020. In conclusion, a significant drop in tourism in Latin American and Caribbean countries was evidenced, mainly due to COVID-19, which has a significant economic impact on this region, with results very similar to those of other regions of the world.

ABSTRACT

Individual responsibility implies horizontality of participation in the formulation of small models of self-care and local decision-making of what and how to do for prevention, however, in addition to the deployment of education and social communication formulas that provide important tools so that each citizen knows what humanity is facing and to generate shared responsibilities (Ríos, 2020), in a practical sense, in a certain percentage of citizens, it has been possible to observe the abandonment of elementary aspects of social coexistence in times of pandemic. This topic has raised interesting controversies that take up a set of valid questions. The present work takes as its starting point two questions to which it does not attempt to answer, but rather fulfill a guiding function for the arguments presented here: Why are there human groups that do not consciously act on the global call for vaccination? Why do human groups persist in dispensing with biosafety measures, not abiding by health guidelines? Our concern when carrying out this analysis arose from understanding that, as is the case in various parts of the world, the Ecuadorian provinces with similar community mitigation measures presented very different trends in infection rates. As far as we know, there is no epidemiological model that can help us understand this phenomenon. © 2022 Instituto de Altos Estudios de Salud Publica. All rights reserved.
